Joli Vin imports
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Vineyards: Millerandé grapes, multiple parcels
Average age of vines: 40 years
Principal soil type: Clay and limestone
First produced in 2005 and wanting to use this unique cuvée as a way to introduce herself and the domaine to new and returning clients, Alexandrine makes this cuvée culled from select parcels and using only tiny millerandé grapes, which are smaller than average size Pinot grapes, giving a much higher solid to liquid ratio and therefore producing a more concentrated and structured wine.
Aromatically this resembles the La Justice but the spice and earth elements are more pronounced. The vibrant, intense and delineated flavors possess a really lovely texture thanks to the fine-grained tannins that shape the saline-inflected, refreshing and balanced finish. As it almost always is this is the class of the range in 2014.
